Frank A. Post Dies at 91, Rites Thursday

Funeral services for Frank A. Post, 91, prominent retired Le mars business man, were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mauer’s funeral chapel.

Officiating was Rev. Marlin Whitmer of St. George Episcopal church. Burial was in the city cemetery.

Mr. Post died Monday, Oct. 14, at Sacred Heart hospital after several months of illness. He had made his home in recent years with a son, Stanley, in Le Mars until hospitalization a week before his death.

Frank August Post was born Aug. 13, 1866, at Postville, Wis., the son of Gilbert and Loiza Humphrey Post. He was educated in the schools at Monroe, Wis., and live on a farm near Ireton until coming to Le Mars in 1883.

His marriage to Eva Moore took place Sept. 15, 1893, at Evanston, Ill. She died in 1955.

In 1884, Mr. Post began work as bookkeeper for Moore Loring & Com. A lumber and coal firm here. He became a partner in the former Spotts & Post drug store (now Mount Drug) the same year. His partnership in the M. A. Moore Lumber Co. began in 1905.

In addition to acting as secretary for the Moore Co., Mr. Post also held the same position for lumber yards at one time affiliated with the Le Mars business in Remsen, Akron, Brunsville, Craig, Kingsley, Struble and Moville.

Mr. Post was a member of Giblem lodge, AF&AM, Consistory, Abu Bekr Shrine and was a past president of Le Mars Rotary club.

Surviving are two sons, Foster M. Post of Santa Monica, Calif., and Stanley D. Post of Le Mars, and four grandchildren, Mrs. Robert Sondarg of Avenal, Calif., Capt. F. A. Post of Salinas, Calif., and Margaret D. and Martha M. Post, both of Le Mars.

Preceding Mr. Post in death, besides his wife, were a son Albert, his parents and four brothers.
