Henry J. Baack, 83, Cherokee, died Friday morning (Nov. 18, 1983) at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital following a six-week illness. Services were held Monday at 2 p. m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Pastor Delmar Carlson officiated . Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, in charge.

Mr. Baack was born March 26,1900, in Struble to Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Baack. On Nov. 29, 1922, he married Mathilda VanderHamm in Ireton. He was a farmer near Craig until retiring in 1965. He had lived in Cherokee since 1977.

Survivors are his wife; two sons, Earl of Phoeniz, Ariz., and Emmett, San Diego; one daughter, Mrs. Ed (Violet) Kuhlman, Cherokee; one sister, Mrs. Matilda Hanskin, Craig; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William.
