John Johnson

LeMars, Iowa -- John Johnson, 87, of LeMars died Wednesday at his home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Calvary United Methodist Church. The Rev. Edward Phillips will officiate. Burial will be a Memorial Cemetery under direction of Johnson-Luken Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson was born on June 11, 1895, at Rodelby, Sweden. He came to the United States at age 19 and lived in Minneapolis and Sioux City before moving to LeMars in 1925. He attended Bethel Institute and graduated from Northwestern Chiropractic College, both in Minneapolis. He was a long time LeMars chiropractor and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He married Victoria Thalen on Jan. 17, 1924, at Sioux city. She died Feb. 2, 1959.

Survivors include two sons, Clyde of Spencer and the Rev. Donald of Marshalltown; four grandchildren and a sister, Hulda Peterson of Los Angeles.
