Mrs. Florence Thompson
Mrs. Harry A. (Florence) Thompson, 99, Casa De Paz, Sioux City, died Tuesday (Nov. 3, 1981) in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Merrill United Methodist church. Rev. Donald Bardole will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery under direction of the Johnson-Luken Funeral home of LeMars.
Mrs. Thompson was a longtime member of Merrill United Methodist church and of the Women's Society of Christian service.
Mrs. Thompson, the former Florence Brown, was born Oct. 4, 1882, at Mapleton, to Willard and Laura Mangel Brown.
She married Harry A. Thompson Feb. 19, 1901, at Ida Grove. She lived at Danbury, Merrill and Wessington Springs, S.D., and moved back to Merrill in 1934.
Mr. Thompson died in 1952
She had lived in Sioux City the last two years.Mrs. Thompson was a former member of the Merrill Women's Study Club.
Survivors are one son, Everett of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bess Thompson, Wessington Springs, S.D.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Nellie K.B. Johnston of Albia, Iowa.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, two sons and four brothers and a sister.
