Myrtle O'Banion
Myrtle Boone (Mert) O'Banion, 75, LeMars, died Sunday at a LeMars hospital after a brief illness. Mr. O'Banion was born February 22, 1888, in Harrison county, Ia. He came to LeMars in 1928 and lived here the rest of his life except for five years when he was transferred away by the railroad.
His widow is the former Edith E. Clauson.
He was a retired railroad ticket and freight agent for the Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the church brotherhood, Order of Railway Telegraphers and Giblem lodge 322, A.F. & A.M.
Survivors included the widow, Edith; three daughters, Miss Laura Mae O'Banion of Winnetka, Ill., Mrs. William Hathaway of Cleveland, and Mrs. Lewis Hilton of St. Louis; four brothers, Fred of Chadron, Neb., Harvey of Waterloo, Ia., and Charles and Ralph both of Woodbine, Ia., two sisters, Mrs. Marie Bousted and Mrs. Paul Guyetter, both of Woodbine; and two grand children.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church here. Rev. Alvern Kinrade, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodbine cemetery under direction of Mauer funeral home, LeMars.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
