Walter E. Beason
Walter E. Beason, 73, Sioux City, formerly of Akron, died Tuesday (Jan. 8, 1980) at the Westwood Convalescent Home in Sioux City after a long illness.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial chapel. Rev. Omar Pettersen, pastor of Whitfield United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in Logan Park Cemetery.
Mr. Beason was born April 18, 1906, at Moville. He was graduated from Oto (Iowa) High School. He married Edith Jones Wilder, Oct. 13, 1951, in Dakota City, Neb. She died May 31, 1974 in Sioux City. He farmed in the Akron and Westfield communities for many years. He worked for the Sioux City Brick and Tile Co. for several years and also for Fiasco Manufacturing Co. until retiring several years ago. He was a member of the Whitfield United Methodist Church and the senior citizen center.
Survivors include three sons, James L. Wilder of Sioux City, Theodore R. Wilder of Madison, Wise, and Clifford E. Wilder of El Segundo, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Matt (Betty) Benty of Lynn wood, Wash.; two brothers, Clifford of Correctionville and Orria Sparks of Akron; one sister, Mrs. Howard (Lelia) Lange of Elk Point, S.D.; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
