Lyman Clark, 80, Funeral Rites set Saturday

Lyman C. Clark, 80, rural Merrill farmer and livestock feeder, died Wednesday afternoon at Floyd Valley hospital after he suffered an apparent heart attack while driving a pickup truck.

He was rushed by the Luken-Johnson ambulance to Floyd Valley hospital where he died a short time later. Patrolman Jack Bensley said Mr. Clark was going south on highway 75 two miles north of Hinton when the 1964 Ford pickup truck he was driving struck a bridge at 1:05 p.m.

Patrolman Jack Bensley said there were no skid marks and visibility was good. Mr. Clark suffered no visible injuries from the mishap. He remained in the wrecked pickup owned by Clark Brothers Construction Co. and was conscious, patrolman Bensley said.

Patrolman Bensley, who was assisted in the investigation by Sheriff Ed Guntren, said the pickup was a total loss. The death was not ruled as a traffic fatality since Mr. Clark suffered a heart attack, authorities said.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Merrill United Methodist church with Rev. J. L. Vallery officiating.

Burial will be in the Merrill Hillside cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home, LeMars.
