Eldo Bollmeyer, 80, of Hinton, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at his home in Hinton, Iowa, following a courageous battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 26, 2011 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Leeds, with Reverend Gary Snyder officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery in Merrill. IA. Visitations will begin at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Leeds, where there will be a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be at the Church on Thursday morning for one hour before the Mass.
Eldo Henry Louis Bollmeyer was born February 9, 1931 in Correctionville, IA, the son of Edwin and Violetta (Kasch) Bollmeyer. His family moved to a farm east of Hinton when he was a young boy and he attended rural school. He later attended Hinton Community Schools and graduated from Hinton Community High School. Eldo married Margaret Beller on February 5, 1951 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Leeds, IA. Following their marriage, the couple farmed for many years in the Hinton area, retiring from farming in 1976. He then worked for the County as a blade technician for 25 years. Eldo and Midge moved into Hinton from the farm five years ago.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Leeds. Eldo and Midge enjoyed square dancing together for many years. He very much enjoyed his family, especially time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Margaret “Midge” Bollmeyer of Hinton; a son and his wife, Al and Paula Bollmeyer of Wamego, KS; a daughter, Kathy Hunt of Hinton, IA; a daughter-in-law, Judi Bollmeyer of Bush, LA; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a brother, Everett Bollmeyer of Hinton, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Dean Bollmeyer; a son-in-law, David Hunt; and a sister-in-law, Betty Bollmeyer.
Pallbearers will be: Jake Hite, Tom Beller, Jr., Allan Flanders, Lance Bollmeyer, Jamie Schoenherr and Nik Bollmeyer. ©
