Reinard “Reine” Dreckman, 86, of Le Mars passed away with his family at his side from complications with pneumonia on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars with Father Kevin Richter officiating. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post #241 will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home. There will be a 4:00 p.m. Parish Rosary followed by a 7:30 p.m. Vigil Wake Service all at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Bart Brownmiller, Brian Brownmiller, Ryan Goss, Amy Goss, Dawn Brownmiller, Sheila Dumdei, Jessica Franck, and Kristinia Dreckman.

Reinard Joseph Dreckman was born March 6, 1925 on the family farm south of Le Mars, Iowa to John and Elizabeth (Deters) Dreckman. Reine was ninth of eleven children born. He grew up on the farm and attended St. Joseph Catholic High School in Le Mars. As a young boy, Reine enjoyed caring for horses on the farm. He served his country in the United States Army from February of 1946 until his honorable discharge in March of 1947. Reine was united in marriage to Regine “Jean” Hermann on June 21, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. He worked for Meis Feed and Seed for many years as a miller and truck driver. He also worked for Doug McDougall at Select Feed as a truck driver .

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the Wasmer American Legion Post. Reine enjoyed playing “Pitch” with family and friends and watching the Chicago Cubs play. He had a tremendous Faith and supported his church faithfully. He will be remembered for his gift of making friends wherever he went. He loved to visit. His greatest joy in life was his family; especially in later years he enjoyed the grand and great grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters: La Vonne and her husband Dan Brownmiller of Le Mars, and Janice and her husband Roger Goss of Sioux City; a son, Randall Dreckman and his wife Renee of Zearing, IA; 8 grandchildren: Bart Brownmiller and his wife Angie of Remsen, Brian Brownmiller and special friend Jessica Lingren of Le Mars, Dawn Brownmiller of Le Mars and her friend Greg Nattress, Sheila and her husband Corey Dumdei of Sioux Falls, SD, Amy Goss of North Sioux City, SD, Dr. Ryan Goss and Hilary of Omaha, NE, Jessica and her husband Nic Franck of Ankeny, IA, and Kristina Dreckman of Richmond, VA; 11 great grandchildren: Alexandria, Bretteny and Damen Brownmiller, Cory Goss, Cason Goss, Kaiden Goss, Annissa, Daniel, and Preston Kleich, Ethan and Zachary Dumdei; 3 sisters-in-law, Irma Dreckman of Luverne, MN, Eleanor Dreckman of Marcus, IA, and Mildred Hoss of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

Reine was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jean Dreckman on January 9, 2011; 2 sisters, Celeste Hoss and Hyacinth Lahr; 8 brothers, Roman, Felix, Adrian, Sylvester, Milton, Clarence, Carl, and Jim; 2 nephews, Chuck and David Dreckman
