John T. Kneip, 57, of Oyens, Iowa passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens, Iowa. Reverend Bill McCarthy will celebrate. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011, with a Scripture Service at 4:00 p.m., all at Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church.
John Thomas Kneip was born August 5, 1953 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Loren and Mary (Kelly) Kneip. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens. He attended grade school at St. Catherine’s School and graduated from Remsen Union High School in 1971.
Following his schooling, he began working for various businesses before he began his career as a truck driver. John drove truck for several companies, for the last 9 ˝ years, he drove for JLM Enterprises of Clarion, Iowa until his health began to fail.
John was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens. John loved his pets, especially his dogs. He also loved to listen to music and play his guitar. Being outdoors was also a joy in John’s life. Most of all, he loved the times spent with his friends and family.
Survivors include his sister, Karen Plendl and her special friend, Michael Tofflemire of Le Mars; a nephew: Kyle Plendl of Le Mars; a niece: Erika Plendl of Le Mars; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents: Nick and Dorothy Kneip, and Roy and Viola Kelly.
