Mrs. Anton Nigg, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jacob Schindel of Melbourne, on Tuesday, December 11th. She had been in poor health for some time and an attack of pleura pneumonia was more than she could withstand.

Mrs. Nigg was a native of Switzerland and at the was about seventy-three years of age. She was the mother of Dr. Henry Nigg of Merrill and time of her death an aunt of Mrs. George Kuhn of Le Mars. Mr. and Mrs. Nigg were numbered among the earliest settlers In this region, they having lived in Sioux City as early as 1854.

The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon at the Melbourne church and was largely attended.

Biography of Mrs. A. Nigg

Mrs. Rosina Nigg her maiden name being Vogt was born April 9, 1829, in Balzers Furstentun Liechtenstein. She came to America in the year of 1833 and made her home in Dubuque, Iowa.

In the year of 1855, June 6, she was married to Anton Nigg and moved to the state of Wisconsin. In the year 1858 they came to Sioux City, Iowa where they remained until the year 1868. They then moved on their farm at Melbourne, Iowa where they lived in harmony until the Angel of Death visited their home after an illness of several weeks, December 11, 1900.

Mother Nigg was a kind mother and a good neighbor. Loved by all that knew her. She leave s to mourn her a husband, two children seven grandchildren and many relatives and friends. May god grant them a reunion in the world to come.
