TOVEY—At his home northeast of this city, at noon, Tuesday September 6th of rheumatism and bowel complaint. John Tovey, aged 55 years. Mr. Tovey was at one time a member of the Iron Brigade, of Michigan, and served his time in the war of ‘61. He was an old settler in Plymouth county, having lived here before the Illinois Central railroad was built to LeMars. He kept a boarding tent for the hands who worked on the grade when the road was built. The funeral took place yesterday from the St. James church, in this city.

SHORT AND SWEET.

John Tovey, of Plymouth County, near Seney, died Tuesday of a complication of diseases. The funeral occurred Thursday at LeMars. He was well known in Alton, and was a good man. He leaves a wife and family.
