M. V. Seamands Was Well Known
Resident of AkronManaldo V. Seamands, a long time resident of Akron, died at his home Saturday afternoon, June 17, following a prolonged Illness occasioned by cancer.
The deceased was born in Lawrence county, Ohio, February 14, 1842. When a child his parents moved to Jackson county, Iowa, and later went, to northern Missouri, where Mr. Seamands resided until the outbreak of t h e Civil war. Enlisting In 1862 he served continuously until the close of the great conflict and three years following went to Union county, South Dakota,
where he engaged in fanning, and later retired and moved to Akron.In 1867 he was united in marriage to Miss Ruth Randal, to which union five children were born, three of whom survive to mourn his loss. They are Mrs. Max Pollock, of Akron; Alva, of Akron, and Charles, of Hettinger , N. D. Besides his children he leaves one sister and three brothers, Mrs. Effle Hilton, of Lyons, Taylor Seamands, of Maquoketa, S. R. Seamands, of Ida Grove, and H. D. Seamands, of Friona,Texas.
The funeral services were held from the M. E. church at Akron Monday afternoon, June 19th, Rev. R. L. Stuart, of Humboldt, Iowa, officiating.
