INJURIES PROVE FATAL
Daniel Padmore, the Veteran Pioneer
Painter Dies at his Home In this City.
The commnity was shocked to hear of the death of Daniel Padmore, the veteran painter, yesterday morning. Few were even aware that he had been the victim of a bad accident at the court house of which an account is given in another column of this issue. From later reports it is learned that when he fell from the scaffold he struck with his elbow and side on an iron bucket doubtless causing the internal injuries which resulted in his death which occurred at a few minutes after ten o'clock on Thursday morning. He apparently did not suffer very much on the evening before his demise and his relatives and friends were in hopes that his injuries were not extremely serious. His right arm was broken at the elbow and the bone badly shattered. Dr. Foster called Dr. Richey into consultation but he was beyond the reach of human skill.

His death was due to traumatic peritonitis and no operative treatment could have prolonged his life. His sudden death is a terrible blow to the bereaved family who have the sincerest sympathy of a very large number of friends. Dan was one of the pioneers of LeMars and was liked by everybody, and in his death many will feel a sense of personal loss. He was a skilled workman and a man of sound judgment and principles and had the faculty of attending strictly to his own business. He was prominent in Masonic circles and he was also a member of Mower Post, G. A.R. For many years he was associated in business with the firm of Adamson & Padmore, and of late has worked for the firm of Adamson & Hagen.

Daniel Padmore was a native of England where he was born fifty seven years ago. He came to New York in 1800 and served in the 37th New Jersey infantry during the war. He was married to Miss Helen Dryer at Freeport, Ill. and came to LeMars in 1876. He leaves a widow and four children. His eldest son James is at Winterset. He has five sisters in New York and a brother in
Manchester, England.

The funeral will be held on Sunday at 3 o'clock at the Congregational church. Rev. G. L. Kent will preach the sermon and the Masons will conduct the services at the grave.

All old settlers are requested to meet at the office of Geo. M. Smith on Sunday afternoon to attend the funeral of the late Daniel Padmore.
