Funeral of L. M. [Laban] Garner

The funeral of the late L. M. Garner, whose sudden death was announced in Monday's issue, took place yesterday afternoon from the house. Rev. T. M. McDonald, pastor of the Methodist church, conducted the service. A large number of old soldiers attended the funeral of him who was also a veteran. The interment was made in the city cemetery.

L. M. Gamer was born in Grant county, Wisconsin, May 8, 1849, where he grew to manhood and in 1864 he enlisted in the Sixth Wisconsin regiment and served until the close of the war.

Mr. Garner located at Sibley in '87, where be engaged in the harness business. He removed to LeMars four years later and this has been his home ever since. In 1874 he was united in
marriage with Dell E. Granger, who survives him. His daughter, Mrs. J .W. Harker who lives at Randolph, Neb., was visiting at home when the sudden summons came. His son. Ray, is employed at Struble.

Mr. Garner for a number, of years followed his trade of harness maker and later engaged in the business of small fruit growing. Of late years he has confined the most of his attention to his business as pension agent in which he was very successful. He was a member of the Methodist church for many years and was active and zealous in church affairs and was very strong in his espousal of the cause of temperance.
