BLOOM CAME TO AMERICA
WHEN SEVEN YEARS OLDChristian Frederick Bloom, a member of company B 43rd Infantry of the civil war, passed out of this life at a local hospital Wednesday morning around 10 o'clock. At the time of his death he was 78 years, 4 months and 12 days old. Death was caused by nervous breakdown and t h e Infirmities of old age.
Christian Frederick Bloom was born n Cuxhavon, Germany on February 1, 1845. At the ag e of seven years he and his parents came to America, settling near Plattville, Wis. At Platteville
he worked and farmed. He was married to Miss Helena Dorothea Weise In 1868 and In 1882, h e and his wife came to Plymouth county, settling in Fredonia township. In 1907 Mr. and Mrs. Bloom moved to LeMars, where Mr. Bloom has been living up to the time of his death . There were nine children born t o this union, three of whom have died. Those who survive are Mrs. John Brunken of Tripp, S. D., Will Bloom of Livingstone , Wis. Mrs. Frank Fery and Mrs. Andrew
Fery of Aumsvllle, Oregon, Charles Bloom of Tripp, S. D. and his wife, Mrs. Helena Bloom.
A little over a month ago Mr. and Mrs. Bloom lost their son, John .The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon a t 2 o'clock from the Lutheran church, Rev. J. J. Vollmar officiating. The G. A. R. will have charge of the services at the cemetery.
Mr. Bloom was a kindly man, devoted to his children. He was a member of Mower post, from whose thinning ranks, he will be missed keenly.
