Mrs. Henry Boden [Elizabeth (Bessie) Johnston] of Brule township [South Dakota], died Tuesday afternoon at three o’clock, of heart trouble, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Boden was born in Country Laitrim, Ireland, on June 24, 1839. She was married to Henry Boden in the state of Iowa in 1861. For eighteen years she has lived in Union County, loved and respected by all who knew her. A husband and seven children are left to mourn the loss of a true wife and loving mother. The children are: Andrew, William, James, and Miss Stella, and Mrs. Anna Conway, Mrs. Alice Burnight and Mrs. Mollie Clare [Mary Clarey]. The funeral occurred today (Thursday) from the Catholic Church in this city, Rev. Father Kelly conducting the services. The funeral was largely attended by friends and neighbors of the family. In their great affliction the Leader extends its heartfelt sympathy to Mr. Boden and family.
