IN LIBERTY TOWNSHIP
CAME HERE WITH HER HUSBAND IN 1867

Mrs. Thos. Clarey, 77 years old, a resident of Plymouth county for many years, died at her home in Sioux City on Tuesday morning. Mrs. Clarey was one of the early settlers in the west part of this county arriving from Galena, Ill. in Sioux City in 1868 and shortly after, locating in Liberty township in the Perry Creek valley.

Mrs. Clarey was born [April 13, 1844] in County Carlow, Ireland and came to America when a girl of sixteen going to Galena, Ill., where she subsequently married Thomas Clarey [April 05, 1864]. They took up a homestead in Liberty township where they lived for about thirty-five years and then retired to Sioux City, where Mr. Clarey died in 1919. He had developed a large farm from the original homestead and owned a large amount of land and also real estate in Sioux City.

Mrs. Clarey is survived by four daughters and four sons. They are : Mrs. Mary Coulson, Sioux City; Mrs. Nellie Mansfield, Westfield, Iowa; Mrs. Agnes Keenan, St. Paul , Minn.; Kate Clarey, Sioux City; Thomas, Akron, Iowa; Laurence, Sioux City; John , Minneapolis, Minn; William, Akron, Colo.

Requiem high mass was celebrated at St. Boniface Catholic church on Thursday morning and interment was made in Mount Calvary cemetery. [Sioux City]
