OBITUARY.
Brief mention was made in these columns last week of the death of Henry Boden, a 'pioneer of Union county, S. D. A more complete obituary follows:
Henry Boden was born in New Bridge county, Kildare, Ireland, seventy years ago, iu 1834. He came to this country when a boy, settling in Iowa, where he remained until 1878, when he joined in the western migration and located in Sioux Valley township, Union county, S. D. He was married in 1861 to Elizabeth Johnston, a result of this union being seven children, who survive—three sons, Andy Boden of Richland, S. D.; William Boden of Westfleld, Iowa, and Jim Boden of Los Angeles, California; four daughters, Mrs. Jas. Conway of Ethan, S. D., Mrs. Jas. Burnight of Westfleld, Iowa, Mrs. Thos. Clarey of Akron, Mrs. Stella Buryanek of Ellendale, Iowa. Two years ago, on account of ill health, he went to Ethan, S. D., to live with his daughter, Mrs. Jas. Conway. He passed away at that place Thursday, May 10,1904. His remains were brought to Akron for interment in the Catholic cemetery beside his wife, who died eight years ago in July.

Mr. Boden was a true son of the "old sod." He and hard work were close friends and his early habits of industry and thrift brought a comfortable competency for his later days. He was generous to a fault and honorable in his dealings with all men. Overflowing with native wit and good humor, his friendships were numerous and perpetual. The good name and useful life of Henry Boden will live long and kindly in the memories of all who knew him.

The funeral was held Saturday morning in St. Patrick's Catholic church, Father T. B. Sullivan conducting the service. There was a large attendance of friends and old neighbors with whom he shared privations of pioneer life in this valley.
Requiescat in pace.
