Doug Borchers, 66, of Rock Valley, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Avera Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Doug was born May 15, 1944, at Akron, the son of Harvey and Marcella (Meyers) Borchers. After graduating from Le Mars High School, Doug served in the U.S. Navy (June 1963-June 1967) in Vietnam.

Doug married Dianne Brown June 8, 1968 at Le Mars. Doug and Dianne lived in Le Mars until they purchased the Rock Valley Locker in 1984 and together they worked until Doug's illness caused them to close the business this fall.

Doug was a member of VFW and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed to camp, hunt and fish, trap shoot, play pool, but most of all, he enjoyed visiting with his family and friends.

Doug is survived by his wife, Dianne; son, Eric (Jill) Borchers of Gillette, Wyo.; daughters, Renae (Eric) Kelderman of Pierre, S.D., and Jennifer (Scott) Wiechmann of Sioux Falls, S.D.; four grandchildren; his mother, Marcella Borchers Beckmann of Remsen; and a brother, Clay (Patty) Borchers of Sun City West, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey; a brother, Greg Borchers; and his step-father, William Beckmann.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday with family present at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home.
