DIED—In LeMars, Iowa, on Friday, Sept. 4th, Mr. Christian Koehler, of heart disease, in the 59th year of his age.

The deceased was born in Wolfstein, Bavaria, June 27, 1827, and came to the United States in 1847, and located in Galena, Illinois. The gold excitement took him to California in 1860, where he remained a year or more and then returned to Galena. In May, 1870, he became a resident of LeMars, where he and his family have ever occupied a foremost position. He was for a time a member of the city council, and for several years served as township trustee and poor master and in these positions always placed the public interests to the front, and discharged every duty as an official man and citizen with the strictest fidelity. His walk through life has been that of an upright man, and the impress of his sterling character is reflected upon a family of nine sons and two daughters, whom to know is to respect for their individual worth, and of whom any father could well he proud. The funeral will take place to-morrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from his late residence.
