Milton Spies

Hinton special: Funeral services for Milton Ruben Spies, 82, will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hinton United Methodist Church. Dr. Milton Greene, pastor of Melbourne United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Melbourne Cemetery. A prayer service will be held Friday. At 7;30 p.m. at Heaton-Westcott Funeral Chapel. Pastor Arthur Schultz of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate.

Mr. Spies died Wednesday, (April 30, 1980), at a Sioux City hospital after a lengthy illness.

Milton Spies was born March 12, 1898 in Plymouth Township, Plymouth County. He farmed in Plymouth Township until 1948 when he moved to Hinton. He was in the carpentry business until his retirement. He married Kathryn Rush April 25, 1924. She died Dec. 10, 1977.

Survivors are a son Dick; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Lois) Lang, Mrs. Delmar (Peggy) Carroll and Mrs. Don (Joanne) Richards, all of Hinton and a brother, Fred, of Sioux City There are nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Richards, Michael Carroll, Dennis Carroll, Tim Lang, Jim Albert and Scott Handy.
