Johanna Hartman Claimed By Death Resident Here Nearly Sixty Years

Mrs. Johanna Hartman, 79, of Leeds, died Monday in a Sioux City hospital following an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Hartman was a resident of Plymouth county for more than thirty years before going to live in Leeds twenty-five years ago.

Mrs. Hartman was born in Germany, December 12, 1864, and came to America in 1887. She was married January 1, 1887, to Theodore Hartman in Merrill.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, Walter Hartman and John Hartman, and two daughters, Mrs. Adolph Epling and Mrs. James Kovarna, all of Merrill, 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Eight of the grandsons are with the armed forces, six of them overseas.

She was a member of the Melbourne Evangelical Church northeast of Hinton.

The funeral was held from the home at Leeds, Wednesday afternoon, with services in the Melbourne Church. Rev. A. W. Schlesselman officiated and burial was made in the Melbourne Cemetery.

The pallbearers, all grandsons. were Walter Hartman Jr., Earl and Glen Epling, Stanley Kovarna, Robert and Marvin Kovarna.
