Death Of Pioneer Merrill Resident
Mrs. J. J. Schindel Passes In 87th Year

Mrs. Jacob J. Schindel, one of the oldest residents of Merrill vicinity, died November 3 at her home in Merrill after a long illness.

Elizabeth Nigg was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Nigg and was born December 7, 1860, in Sioux City, being 80 years, 10 months and 26 days of age at the time of her death. When she was 7 years of ago the family moved to the community where she spent the remainder of her life.

On December 25, 1883, she was married to Jacob J. Schindel, another pioneer resident, who preceded her in death by almost a year. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Nigg, and a son who died in infancy.

Survivors include three sons, Irvin, Harry and E. A. Schindel, all of Merrill; two daughters, Mrs. O. W. Larson of Odebolt and Mrs. George Mechan of Merrill, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p. m. Wednesday at the Mauer Funeral Home in Le Mars. Burial was in Melbourne Evangelical Cemetery.
