Note her mother's maiden name is Hartman or Hartmann.

On Sunday afternoon Miss Lizzie Hines, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J . H. Hines of Ellendale, who was employed by Mrs. Chris. Weidenfeller living in Johnson Township about ten miles west from Le Mars mistook a bottle of carbolic acid for some medicine which she was using for toothache and took a quantity of it Sunday afternoon or evening from the effects of which she died at about noon on Monday. Not much can be learned at this time about the matter.

The Weidenfeller family was at a party at Chris Miller's on Sunday and when they returned they found. Miss Hines writhing in pains and they quickly discovered the cause and dispatched a messenger for Dr. Berner of Merrill, who hastened to the place as quickly as possible, out was notable save the life of the girl . The family made use of everything known to them to counteract the effect of the poison, but their efforts were in vain.

The funeral was held from the house of her parents near Ellendale on Tuesday. The young lady was about seventeen years of age.
