Mathilda P. Raby

Mathilda P. Raby, 84, of Merrill, died Friday (Dec. 1, 1989) in Floyd Valley hospital in Le Mars, after an extended illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Merrill. The Rev. Frank Philipp officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Merrill, under the direction of Mauer-Johnson funeral home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Raby was born April 7, 1907, in Johnson township, Plymouth County, daughter of Max and Mathilda (Null) Utesch. She married Herbert Raby May 2, 1928, in Johnson Township. She was a homemaker and lifelong Plymouth county resident.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Hammerstrom of Plant City, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grand grandchildren; two brothers, Max Utesch of Brunsville and Harry Utesch of Le Mars; two sisters, Lillian Taylor of Le Mars and Minnie Pendelton of Le Mars.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Dawayne and Kenneth Raby; a brother, August Utesch, and two sisters, Viola Utesch and Hannah Peters.
