Lillian Long Passes Away In New York

Well Known Former Le Mars Woman Engaged In Profession Of Teaching

E. A. Dalton received a telegram yesterday from Dana P. Long, well known former grain man in Le Mars who now resides in Hamburg, Iowa, announcing the death of his sister, Miss Lillian Long in New York City.

Burial and cremation will be made in New York.

Miss Lillian Long grew up in Le Mars and was a daughter of Joseph Long, first station agent at the Omaha depot in this city, and a distinguished citizen of Le Mars during his lifetime.

Miss Long followed the profession of teaching since graduating from college. She was a woman of brilliant attainment and much admired by those with whom she associated while living in Le Mars. She was preceded in death by a sister, Miss Josephine Long, and a brother, Melvin, who died in boyhood. Her brother, Dana P. Long, is her only surviving near relative.

No history of Le Mars would be complete without reference to the Joseph Long family, whose members were intimately connected with life in Le Mars in pioneer days.
