Kenneth Rodney Borchers of Sedan, Kansas, formerly of rural Akron, Iowa passed away Sunday, January 2nd, 2011 at his home near Sedan at age 78.

Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron, Iowa with Reverend Sarah Nye officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Arrangements are with Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran School in Independence, Kansas or St. John Lutheran Church in rural Akron, Iowa.

He was born in Akron, Iowa on December 29th, 1932, the son of Ed and Esther (Schieffen) Borchers. He attended Akron schools. He married Joyce Rohlfs on May 21, 1951, in Craig, Iowa. They farmed in rural Akron until 1961, he worked several construction jobs around Kansas before settling in Sedan in 1965.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Borchers of Sedan; Sons, Steve Borchers and wife Lynne Ann of Olathe, Kansas; Terry Borchers of Wichita, Kansas; and Rick Borchers and wife Jackie of Tacoma, Washington; 7 grandchildren Chad, Chris, Misti, Tina, Kara, Justin, and Courtney; and 4 great- grandchildren, Jason, Adyson, Corbin, and Carson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles Borchers; and grandchildren, Amy and Jonathan.
