Milton John Nussbaum, Sr., 89, of Remsen died unexpectedly Wednesday December 22, 2010 at his residence in Remsen.

Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday December 27, 2010 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with Reverend Craig Miller, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen, officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Remsen V.F.W. Post #3328 and the American Legion Post #220 of Remsen. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Funeral at the Carlsen Funeral home in Le Mars.

Milton John Nussbaum was born September 5, 1921 at Le Mars, IA, the Son of John Martin and Susan (Weber) Nussbaum. He grew up in the Remsen area and received his education at Remsen Public School. Milton later served his country with the U.S. Army during W.W.II and was stationed overseas in the Philippines. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Remsen and farmed with his father. On July 7, 1952, he married Marie Barthole at Elk Point, SD. Following their marriage the couple farmed for many years north of Remsen until they moved into Remsen in 2000. His wife Marie passed away in October of 2003.

Milton was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen, the Remsen V.F.W. Post #3328 and the American Legion Post #220 of Remsen.

Survivors include two children: Connie Widell of Coal Valley, IL and Milton “John” Nussbaum, Jr. and his wife Joan of Le Mars; three grandchildren: Stephannie Fiedler and her husband Chad of Underwood, IA, Adam Nussbaum of Morton, IL, and Brandon Nussbaum of St. Louis Park, MN; and three great grandchildren: Dallas, Shea, and Sophia Fiedler, of Underwood, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marie; a son-in-law Ric Widell; a sister Rosella Ludwig; and a brother-in-law Bill Ludwig.
