FUNERAL RITES FOR CHRISTINA HANSEN HELD AT REMSEN

Funeral services were held in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Remsen, Tuesday afternoon, for Mrs. Christine Hansen, former Remsen resident, Rev. Paul Wuebben officiated at the service. Mrs. Hansen died at Eureka, S.D., March 10.

Christina Hansen, nee Birkenwald, was born September 8, 1862, in Esthonia (Tarta), at that time part of Russia, and in her native home was united in marriage March 16, 1890, to Asmus Christian Hansen, a native of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. In 1897 they came to the United States, immediately settling on a farm near Remsen.

They moved later to Tindall, S.D., and in recent years Mrs. Hansen lived with a son at Scotland, S.D. She is surived by her children: Wm. F. Hansen, Scotland, S.D.; Paul A. Hansen, Springfield, Ill.; Otto H. Hansen, Gettysburg, S.D.; Mrs. Anna Schneider, Gettysburg; Mrs. Marie Irving, Los Angeles; and Mrs. Vera Kost, Selby, S.D.
