PRIMGHAR, Iowa - Richard Fowler Milner, 96, of Primghar died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital in Primghar.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m., at Adaville United Methodist Church, rural Merrill, Iowa, with the Rev. Mark Volkers officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be at 7 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service, at the church.

Mr. Milner was born Feb. 12, 1902, near Westfield, Iowa, the son of William B. and Emma (Pond) Milner. He attended Sunnyside Township School and graduated from Merrill High School. He was baptized in the Methodist faith.

He married Florence Mary Hathaway on Sept. 5, 1923, in Westfield. The couple farmed in Plymouth County. She died in 1946. He then married Anna Buck on July 6, 1948. The couple continued to farm in Plymouth County until retiring and moving to Primghar in October 1990.

He was a member of Adaville Methodist Church and was active in American Reformed Church in Primghar. He was also a member of Plymouth County Historical Association, Farm Bureau, a former school board member and worked with the ASCS office. He enjoyed reading.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Robert and Ronda of Sioux City; four daughters, Priscilla Elgersma of Primghar, Audrey and her husband, Charles Swalley, of Sanborn, Janet and her husband, Jerry Higgins, of Okemos, Mich., and Patricia Milner of Sheldon, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wilma; a granddaughter, Jill Post; two sisters; and three brothers.
