Mary S. Stinton, daughter, of Mrs. Sadie Stinton, was born in Johnson Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, March 8,. 1893, where she grew to womanhood. She received her early education in the rural schools, later going to the Westfield high school and graduating with the class of 1912. She taught fourteen successful years in the rural schools of Plymouth county. She
was always a faithful worker in the Baptist Sunday school and church. On February 15, 1926, she was united in marriage with Bernard Fineran, of Denison, Iowa, at the St. Patrick Church of Akron, of which she became a member of that time. After her marriage she moved to a farm near Odebolt, residing there about a year, when she contracted tuberculosis and for two and a half years was a constant sufferer. Mary bore her illness with patience, never complaining, and everything was always sweet and cheerful. All that medical skill and loving hands could do were of no avail, and on Thursday morning, August 29, 1929, she passed to the Great Beyond at her home in Vail, Iowa.
She leaves to mourn her untimely departure her husband; mother and four sisters, Nettie Robertson, of Vail, Iowa; Grace Small arid Evan Sylvester, of Akron, Iowa, and Marjorie Burnight, of Los Angeles, Calif., besides a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral was held Saturday morning at St. Patrick’s Church of Akron with Rev. Father Roder officiating. Interment was in the Adaville Cemetery in the family lot beside her father, who preceded her in death January 26, 1915. May her soul rest in peace.
