William G. "Tud" Utesch, 81, of Akron, died Tuesday (March 24, 1987) in his home after a long illness. Services were held at 1:30 p. m. Friday in St. John's Lutheran Church in Preston township, rural Akron. The Rev. Robert Kruempel officiated. Mrs. Wm. Van Buskirk, organist accompanied the congregational singing. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Schroeder funeral home of Akron. Honorary pallbearers were. Marvin Buhman, Armond Halweg, Ron Toel, Jay Toel, Robert Utesch, Varold Voss, Daryl Klemme, and Randy Plueger. Active pallbearers were Lowell Utesch, Merlin Utesch, Edward Utesch, Jr., Jim Utesch, Randy Utesch, Chuck Utesch, Steve Utesch, and Steve Kilstrom.
Mr. Utesch was born Nov. 3, 1905 to Paul and Louise Jans Utesch in Merrill. He married Ella Klemme Feb. 12, 1929 in Merrill. The couple farmed in the Akron area all their married life and retired to Akron in 1965.
Survivors include his wife, Ella of Akron; a daughter, Mrs. Jud (Lorraine) McDougall of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Al (Myrtle) Doering of Merrill, three grandchildren, Pamela Danneman, David McDougall, and Beth Malm; and a great-grandson, Alexander William McDougall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward and Charles; and two sisters, Mamie and Minnie.
