John H. Lubben dead at age 81
John Lubben, 81, 127 Third Ave. NW, died at his home Monday after an illness of a year. He was a retired farmer and a former janitor at Clark school for 12 years.
John Henry Lubben was born July 29, 1884, in Le Mars. He was a lifelong resident of Le Mars and vicinity. His marriage to Eva Wendt took place Nov. 28, 1918, in Fedora, S.D. He was the son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Harm (Ahlfs) Lubben. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at St. John American Lutheran church. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial cemetery under the direction of Mauer funeral home. Rev. L. L. Belk will officiate.
Survivors are his wife, Eva, Le Mars; five daughters, Mrs. Herman (Rosina) Ritter, Lake Benton, Minn.; Martha Jo Lubben, Holbrook, N.Y.; Mrs. Tony (Bernice) Sitzmann, Le Mars; Audrey Lubben, Chicago, and Mrs. Don (Hester) Hatfield Jr., Sioux City, and three sons, Harm of Sioux Falls, Arthur of Shawnee, Kan., and Stanley of Le Mars. A brother, Gerd of Fergus Falls, Minn., and 17 grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother.
Mr. Lubben was a member of St. John American Lutheran church and the Brotherhood.
