Daniel Boettcher, 65, of Chatsworth, Iowa passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the Hawarden Community Hospital in Hawarden, Iowa.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Chaplin Ron Pietz from Hospice of Siouxland will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, with a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron, Iowa.

Daniel Dean Boettcher, Sr. was born January 28, 1945 in Gregory, South Dakota, the son of Adolph and Barbara (Gall) Boettcher. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax, South Dakota. He attended school in Fairfax.

Following his schooling, Dan married Judith Wiedmeier, and to this union 3 children were born: Daniel, Jr., Loren, and Khristine. Dan later married Amber Hensel LeClair. Dan lived in many communities through the years before settling in the Akron and Chatsworth areas. He worked for several businesses, including Iowa Beef and Gateway. He also did construction and farming work for many years.

Dan enjoyed gardening, playing darts, and spending time with his family and friends. Dan was liked by many and he always there to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Amber of Chatsworth, IA; his 3 children: Daniel, Jr. of Yankton, SD, Loren (Heidi) Boettcher of Yankton, SD, and Khristine (Eugene) Forehand of Groton, NY; 3 step children: Larry (Rhonda) LeClair, Jerry LeClair, and Sherri LeClair, all of Sioux City, IA; 10 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 2 sisters: Margaret (Charles) Marrs of Rapid City, SD, and Gladys (Dean) Horst of Rapid City, SD; a brother: David (Faith) Boettcher of Akron, IA; brother in law: Buddy Hensel of Sioux City; a sister in law: Donna Hensel of Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Helen Boettcher; a brother in law: Jim Hensel, Sr.; and a sister in law: Sharyln Iverson.

Memorials can be made in Dan’s name to Hospice of Siouxland, 4300 Hamilton Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51104.
