Frank J. Navratil, Jr., 95, of Akron, IA, formerly of Omaha, NE, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron, IA. Monsignor Richard Zenk will celebrate. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha, NE. Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2007, with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and a Scriptural wake service at 7:00 p.m., all at the Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron, IA.

Casket Bearers: David Bryant, J.D. Bryant, Billy Rose, Matthew Rose, Mike Navratil, Joe Navratil, and Derek Navracruz.

Frank Joseph Navratil, Jr. was born July 17, 1911 in Omaha, NE, the son of Frank and Bess (Mahacek) Navratil. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith. He attended Chandler Grade School and later graduated from South High School in Omaha. He was united in marriage to Frances “Babe” Pamedit on October 9, 1937 in Omaha. Together, they are the parents of two children, Joyce and Dr. Frank, III. Babe passed away May 11, 1990. Frank was employed at Cudahy Packing Company in Omaha for over 40 years. In 1993, he moved to Akron to be near family.

Frank was a 60-year member of the South Omaha Sokols. He was also a member of the Eagles Club. While living in Omaha, he was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he had served as an usher. For the past 13 years, he has been a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron and the Akron Senior Center. He enjoyed feeding the birds and listening to sporting events, especially Nebraska Cornhusker football. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his children: Joyce Krohn and her husband Paul of Akron, IA, and their children: Kelly Bryant and her husband David of Clarendon Hills, IL, Kimberly Krohn of Killington, VT, and Kristin Rose and her husband Billy of Johnston, IA; Dr. Frank Navratil, III and his wife Jean of University Heights, OH, and their children: Dr. Lisa Navracruz and her husband Derek of Cleveland Heights, OH, Joe Navratil and his wife Debbie of Campbell, CA, and Michael Navratil of University Heights, OH; 9 great-grandchildren: Amanda and J.D. Bryant of Clarendon Hills, IL, Matthew, Will, Hunter, and Libby Rose of Johnston, IA, Maggie and Sam Navracruz of Cleveland Heights, OH, and Claire Navratil of Campbell, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and three sisters: Bea Calta, Libby Polster, and Bess Riha.

Memorials can be made in Frank’s name to the Akron Care Center or Akron Senior Center.
