Mrs. Marie Baack
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Tena Louise Baack, 81, Slayton, Minn, are planned for Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. John's American Lutheran church in Le Mars. Rev. Arnold Imborck will officiate, and burial will be in Le Mars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home in Le Mars. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.Mrs. Baack died Oct. 25, 1976 at Slayton Manor after a lingering illness. Marie Eilers was born May 17,1895 at Harvel, Illinois, to Fred H. and Maria Johnson Eilers. She came to Le Mars as a child and during world war 2 she lived in Hawthorne, Nev. for several years, returning to Plymouth county and Craig. She was a licensed practical nurse and homemaker.
Her marriage to Fred Baack took place Sept. 19, 1924 at Craig. She was a member of the Amercian Lutheran church, American Legion auxiliary and VFW auxiliary. She was also a member of the licensed practical nurses association and Mrs. Baack was active in American Luthern church Women's group, the altar guild and .she taught Sunday school.
She was preceded in death by her first hasband, Harvey DeVall and by a son in infancy and six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors are her husband, Fred Baack, Le Mars; three sons. Leonard DeVall, Dallas, Tex.; Roger DeVall, Jeffersonville, Ind. and Lawrence Baack, Worthington, Minn, and by a daughter Mrs. Bernard (Fern) Gallagher, Silverdale, Wash. There are 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
