Miss Rose Claassen, a well known and highly esteemed resident, of Akron, passed away at her home here Saturday morning, December 20, 1942, after a ten weeks' illness of heart trouble, at the age of 42 years, 9 months and 17 days. She was taken ill the 17th of last October, while employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Sioux City and returned to her home in this city. For some time she was under treatment in the Akron Hospital, but a few weeks
ago was taken to her home. Everything possible was done for her relief and restoration to health, but all to no avail and the final summons came to end her weeks of patient suffering.

Rosina Anna Claassen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Claassen, was born March 9, 1900 at Chatsworth, Iowa. In early infancy she was baptized in St. John's Lutheran church, in Preston township, and on March 28, 1915, was confirmed in that faith. After her parents moved to Akron, she attended, the public school here.

About twenty-live years ago she look a position as operator for the telephone company here, and through her efficiency and strict attention to duty was finally advanced to a position as chief operator at the local exchange. When the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company installed the dial system here a year ago lust summer, Miss Claassen was given a position as operator in the company's Sioux City exchange, a position she held up to the time she was taken ill last October.

Her devotion to the home and helpfulness in the family circle were outstanding characteristics of her life. She also gave freely of her time and talents to the work in Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was superintendent of the Sunday school for a number of years also if member of the Luther League, the Mission Circle and choir. The untimely departure of this widely known and well liked lady brings deep sorrow and regret to her host of acquaintances and friends.

Left to mourn are the following relatives: Her father, Herman Claassen: four sisters and three brothers, Mrs. R C. Smikahl and Henry Clanssen, of Akron; Mrs. Arthur Gillmann, of Sioux City; Gerhardt Claassen, in the U. S. army; George Claassen, of Akron; Mrs. J. C. Kilstrom, of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and Lula Claassen, of Akron; also by three nieces and three nephews. They have the sincere sympathy of the community in their bereavement.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in Trinity Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. J. A. Pannkuk, the pastor. There was a large attendance. A male quartet, comprised of J. A. Jenson, Clifford Johnson, Harry B. Nelson and H. J. Behmer, sang hymns, with accompaniment by Mrs. Anna Long. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Acting as pallbearers were the following employees of the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company: E. J. Evans, R. J. Huie and M. 0. Waterman, of Sioux City; T. L. Christenson, of Rock Rapids; R. W. Younie, of Hawarden, and Chas. M. Allen, of Akron
