Dono Darlene Kern, 62, of Westfield died Saturday, Oct.7 at the Akron Care Center after a
long illness.

Visitation was held Tuesday. Oct. 10, 2 to 8 p.m. at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. The family was present from 7 to 8 p.m. The body will be cremated at a later date.

Mrs. Kern was born Oct. 9, 1932. In Albert City, Iowa, to Donald and Shirley (Thatcher) Whitman. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City in 1951. She married Art Kern March 16, 1951, in Sioux City.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands. Virginia and Doug Wanned of North Sioux City. Neb., Lori and Lyle Cllngenpeel of Riverside in Sioux City, Barb and Jim Denelli of Idaho City, Idaho; two sons and their wives, Ted and Pat Kern of Hawarden. and John and Jewelie Kern of Riverside; and seven grandchildren.
