1857-1942

Was Early Settler in Stanton Township

Mrs. Julius Lippke, 84, an early settler in Stanton township, died Friday at the Sacred Heart hospital in this city.

Caroline Louisa Augusta Meier was born in Carzig, Germany, September 29, 1857, where she grew to womanhood. In 1883 she was married to Julius Lippke. Three years after marriage they came to America and settled on a farm in Stanton township and remained in that community until 1924, when they moved to Le Mars.

She spent the last three years of her life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Zimmerman of Stanton township.

She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Lena and Anna of Merrill, and three sons, Carl Lippke of Merrill, Frank of Cherokee and Eric Lippke of Aberdeen, South Dakota, twenty-three grandchildren and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, Mrs Frederick Fischer, and two in Germany, one brother Herman, a daughter Louisa and a son Julius.

When a girl Mrs. Lippke was confirmed in the Luteran faith. After coming to this contry she united with Evangelical church of Stanton. When she moved to Le Mars eighteen years ago she joined
the German Methodist church.

The funeral services were held in the Stanton Evangelical church Sunday afternoon, Rev. B. E.
Grimes, the pastor officiated and internment was made in the Stanton cemetery under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.
