Robert E. Pollock, 74, Sioux City, died Wednesday (Dec. 27, 1989) at a Sioux City hospital of a brief illness.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Rev. Larry Wimmer of Whitfield United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery with a graveside flag presentation by Duane M. Nelson Post 1981, color guard by Hoschler Post 186, American Legion of Akron.
Mr. Pollock was born June 11, 1915, at Akron, and moved to Sioux City in 1975. He married Jean E. Irwin, June 14,1976 at Akron. He was a rural mail carrier at Akron for many years and thenm worked for H & R Block tax company after moving to Sioux City. Mr. Pollock attended Whitfield United Methodist church.
He was a member of Hoschler Post 186, American Legion of Akron, and served as post commander in 1959- 60, district commander 1965-66, and state vice commander 1967 - 68. He was a member of Duane M. Nelson Post 1981 of Sioux City of which he was a charter member, post commander 1982 1983; adjutant, finance officer, service officer and member of Post District Commanders Club. He was a chatter member of the 40; and 9 Voiture U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors are his wife, Jean; a son,. Richard Kent Pollock of Golden, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Randall (Sandra) Lilly of Sioux City and Deborah Barbee of South Sioux City; a step daughter, Mrs. Mike (Carol) Burke of Cypress, Calif; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Roberta) Dirks of Akron and Mrs. Irma Woudenberg of Lincoln, Neb.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; six stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Robert Pollock, June 21, 1980, a brother and a sister.
