Bruno J. (Ben) Hartmann, 78, Akron, died Jan. 6, 1992, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, Sioux City, of a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran church in Akron, with Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Congregational hymns, "Lord Take My Hand and Lead Me" and "Beautiful Saviour" will be sung, accompanied by Marietta Nielsen, organist. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron, with military graveside rites conducted by Hoschler American Legion Post 186 ;, of Akron. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Schroeder Funeral home in Akron. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 . p.m. Wednesday, with family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Engelbrecht, William Faulkner, Terryl Faulkner, James Hartmann, Richard Hartmann, and Lloyd Eichacker.

Mr. Hartmann was born Dec. 25, 1913 at Tea, S.D. to Bruno J. and Margaret (Theilen) Hartmann. He moved to the Akron area with his family in 1921, and into Akron in 1937. He married LaVonne (Bonnie) Faulkner, May 18, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran church in Akron, in 1941 they moved to Evanston, HI., where he was in the car alignment World War II veteran, enlisting in me U.S. air force in December 1942 and served until February 1946. He returned to Evanston, where he operated an alignment business for 39 years. He retired to. Akron in 1986. He was an active Trinity Lutheran church in Evanston, Ill., where he sang in the choir for 45 years, and served on various boards of the church. He was a member of the North Shore Men's Chorus in Evanston. He was presently serving on the Akron Golf dub board of directors. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron.

Survivors include his wife, La- Vonne E. of Akron; one daughter, Beth Sanders of Broomfield, Colo.; a granddaughter, Molly Elizabeth Sanders of Broomfield; three brothers, Gary and Ed of Akron and Ray of Boulder; Colo.; two sisters, Ann Willer and Mrs. Ray (Micky) Jespersen, both of Akron; nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Alice Eichacker and Matilda Hartmann, and two brothers, Carl" and Rudy who died Dec. 22, 1991.
