Memorial services for L. Phyllis Brodie, 67, Sioux Falls, S.D. will be at 11 a.m. September 4, 1992, at the First Methodist church, 8th and Spring, Sioux Falls, with Dr. Kent Millard presiding.

Mrs. Brodie died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 21, 1992 in Stockholm, Sweden. A private committal services were at Woodland cemetery.

Lorraine Phyllis Albertson, the only child of Curtis and Jeannette M. (Fox) Albertson was born Oct. 31, 1924 in Rock Valley, Iowa.

She grew up and attended high school in Inwood, Iowa. She attended Sioux Falls College for a year, then moved to New York, where she worked as a secretary, until returning home at the time of her father's death. She worked for the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, prior to her marriage to Robert Bruce Brodie Sept. 17, 1950 in Sioux Falls. They lived in Mitchell and Sioux Falls, S.D. for a short time, before moving to Sioux City where Mr. Brodie managed the Warren Radio Supply store. In 1965 they returned to Sioux Falls and established Brodie's Certified Appliance Stores, retiring in 1986. She worked part-time as a secretary for many Sioux Falls businesses, the latest being Dr. Dale Haugen.

During the past 30 years, the couple traveled the world extensively. The tour they were on at the time of her death included the Scandinavian countries, Germany and Luxembourg. She was of Norwegian ancestery and had long desired to visit the farm her great-grandfather left to come to the United States. That was accomplished
on this trip and she also enjoyed meeting her Norwegian relatives for the first time

Survivors include her husband Bruce of Sioux Falls; a daughter, Roberta and Kevin Barry of Hawthorne Woods, 111.; two sons, Brian and his wife, Linda of Sioux Falls, and Craig of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Matthew and Timothy Barry and Aaron and Scott Brodie; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Myrna Brodie of Sioux City; a brother-in-law and his wife, Malcolm and Beverly Brodie of Akron; and three nieces, Kathlyn Saienga, Karen Andrew and Kim Brodie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant son, Gregory Allen.
