James "Jim" Scranton, 56, Dubuque, Iowa, a former Akron resident, died June 29, 1992 of a heart attack.

Mr. Scranton, was born March 1, 1936 in Aurora, Neb., the son of Orlie and Winifred Scranton. He married Margie Graves in 1958 in Melvin, ia. He was a 1954 graduate of Akron high school. His father was a former superintendent at Akron for many years and his mother taught in the elementary grades. He was a professor at the University of Iowa medical school for many years and at Clarke College in Dubuque, retiring in 1990. He then restored old homes in many cities.

Survivors include his wife, Margie; two sons, Blake of Springfield, Ill., and Alex of East Lansing, Mich.; two daughters, Jayme Wyatt of Milwaukee, Wis. and Paige Bandy of North Liberty, Ia.; four grandchildren; his father, Orlie Scranton of Plainview, Neb.; two brothers, Gene of Stockton, Calif., and Bill of West Burlington, la.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private family memorial service was held July 1, 1992 in Springfield, Ill.

Mr. Scranton was preceded in death by his mother.
