Walter A. Young
Walter Austin Young, 89, of Akron, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1992 at the Akron Care Center after a long illness.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist church in Akron with Rev. Fred Penner officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley cemetery at Adaville, under direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Casket bearers were Kevin Frank, Rodney Hodgson, Greg Young, Brad Young, Larry Waterbury, and Jim Richters.
Honorary bearers were Ozzie Langley, Ed Langley, Virgil Frank and Jay Osterhaus.
Mr. Young was born Oct. 12, 1903, at Hartford City, Indiana, the son of Henry and Sarah (Booker) Young. He married Ina Kanago Dec. 6, 1924, at Akron.
The couple lived in Indiana ? years and then returned to Akron, where they lived on the same acreage for 51 years. They lived in Akron for 67 years. He worked at the Akron Creamery for eight years and was custodian at Akron public school for 25 years. The couple operated a catering service in Akron for 18 years. Mr. Young moved to the Akron Care Center in 1990.
Survivors include his wife, Ina of Akron; a son, Charles Henry Young of Rockford, Ill.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Young Osterhaus of Akron, Bradley Young of Chino, Calif., Gregory Young and Danielle Young, both of Rockford, Ill,; one great-grandson, Jay Osterhaus of Cedar Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Howard and one sister, Pearl Michael.
