Gladys Edith Beaubien, 83, of Akron died Monday, Oct. 17, 1994, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services were Thursday, Oct. 20, 1994, at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron with Msgr. Gerald Lyon officiating, with Pat Bernard as organist. Burial was in the Westfield City Cemetery under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Casket bearers were Troy Powell, Norman Lias, Rod Solomon, Curt Bowman, Harold Lias, and Jim Solomon. Honorary Bearers were Jim Leuenhagen and Jason Solomon.

Mrs. Beaubien was born March 19, 1911, in Westfield, the daughter of Monte and Lena (Hummel) Campbell. She married Basil Hoffman in 1927 at Elk Point, S.D. He died in 1967.

She married Phil Beaubien Sr. in 1968 in Akron. He died in 1977. She was a waitress and operated Gladys' Cafe in Westfield for 26 years. She was a
longtime Westfield resident and moved to Akron in October 1993.

Mrs. Beaubien was a former member of St. Catherine's Catholic church in Westfield and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Louis and Marjorie Hoffman of Sheldon, Mo.; a daughter, Marjorie Schierling of Westfield; a stepdaughter, Katherine Ruth Foster of Sioux City; two daughters-in-law, Helen Hoffman of Westfield and Norma Jean Hoffman of South Sioux City; a sister, Gail Lilly of Akron; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a. son, Daryled; a sister, Vera Eslick; and three brothers, Don, Harold and Virgil Campbell.
