Arnold Erichsen, 91 of Remsen, died Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Arnold was born Oct. 22, 1918, at Henry Township, rural Remsen, the son of August and Ida (Nitzschke) Erichsen. He was raised and educated in the Remsen area attending both rural school and Remsen Public School. He then helped on the family farm.

On June 28, 1951 he married Arlene Witt at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen. The couple made their home in Remsen where he and his brother George farmed together. Arlene died Oct. 20, 2009.

Arnold was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and golf.

Survivors include: Two sons, Carlyn Erichsen of Lawton, and Cevon Erichsen and his wife, Dana of Sioux City; three granddaughters, Holly Erichsen of Orange County, Calif., Alyssa and Abbey Erichsen of Sioux City; one brother, George Erichsen of Remsen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Walter Erichsen and his wife Glydelle; one sister, Hilda Henrich and her husband Bill; and one brother, Edward Erichsen, as a young child.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Michael Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. today (Monday), with a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Visitation will resume from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Casket Bearers will be: Charles Conover, Allen Erichsen, Gayle Henrich, Jeremy Homan, Kurtis Kroeger and Ted Nothem.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or The American Cancer Society.
