Rev. Dr. Simeon M. Hickman, aged
84 year, a well known Methodist
preacher, died on Saturday at the
home of his daughter, Mrs. J. J. Lace,
Grand Junction, Col. He was the
father-in-law of Rev. J. J. Lace, a former
pastor of the Le Mars Methodist
church, and was an uncle of Mrs. G.
W. Irwin, of Merrill. He was a member
of the Pittsburg conference for
many years. In 1880 he went to Sioux
City and purchased 800 acres of land
east of Morningside which he owned
at the time of his death. In 1898 he
moved to Sioux City and made his
permanent residence there. For the
past few years he had spent the winter
months on the Pacific and while
on a visit to his daughter was taken
sick about three weeks ago.
