Deanna Lynn Lake

Funeral services for Deanna Lynn Lake, 4-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Lake, Sioux City, and formerly of Merrill, were Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist church, Sioux City, with Rev. Merton Green officiating.

Burial was in the Merrill cemetery under direction of the Nelson-Berger funeral home in Morningside.

Deanna was pronounced dead on arrival at a Sioux City hospital Thursday night, Dec. 11.

Results of an autopsy were not complete Friday night.

The fire department inhalator unit was summoned to the family residence when the girl became critically ill Thursday evening. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The mother told police the girl was under treatment for the flu during the day, police reports said.

Deanna was born June 1, 1965, in Sioux City.

Survivors are the parents; one sister, Janna Lynn, at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mearl R. Lake of Merrill and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Thiele of Wahpeton, N.D.; the paternal great-grandfather, Henry Schmid of Merrill; and the maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Hilda Thiele of Minneapolis.

Deanna's father is band instructor at Hayworth Junior high school and directs the sophomore band at East high school, Sioux City.

He is a captain in the 185th tactical fighter group, Iowa Air National Guard, and returned to Sioux City last summer after serving in Vietnam with the activated guard.
