John C. Hempel, residing on Center
street this city, died at a local
hospital on Monday night at 9 o'clock,
following a brief illness. He was taken
sick last week on Wednesday and
on Saturday was taken to the hospital.His death was due to pleuropneumonia.
John Hempel was a native of Germany,
where he was born on December
24, 1880. He came to America
when a boy in 1894, and soon afterwards
came to Plymouth county. He
was a blacksmith at his avocation for
several years at Neptune, and later
for Ray Hart and Jos. Hettwer in
LeMars.He leaves to mourn his death his
wife to whom he was married on
March 15, 1915, and one son, Theodore
aged six years. He also leaves one
sister residing in Germany.The funeral services were held yesterday
afternoon at the Beely under-
